Director, Executive Communications

The Director of Executive Communications serves as the Communications Business Partner to the Chief Strategy & Business Development Officer and provides tactical communications support to the Chief Executive Officer.
As a member of CSL's award-winning Global Corporate Affairs & Communications Team, the incumbent of this newly created role reports to the Senior Director, Head of Content and Media Relations and works closely with CSL's Chief Corporate Affairs & Communications Officer.
The incumbent develops internal and external communications strategies for the Chief Strategy & Business Development Officer and leads execution, including developing strategic communications, employee communications, media relations and thought leadership opportunities.
The incumbent will also support tactical CEO communications including developing internal and external communications strategiesmaterials, media relations support, speech and script writing, managing the CEO's LinkedIn channel, and management of the CEO's communications calendar.
The incumbent will contribute to the management of monthly communications to CSL's senior leadership team, and coordinate strategic external and internal communications across CSL's Global Leadership Group (GLG), inclusive of the CEO and Chief Strategy & Business Development Officer, in partnership with each GLG member's Communications Business Partner.
The incumbent must have demonstrated success in managing media relations for senior leaders and experience developing strong relationships with journalists.
The incumbent also develops consistent compelling executive thought leadership content for CSL's owned channels.
This role is both strategic and tactical, with a good grasp of the overall healthcare environment, a superior and demonstrated ability to create compelling content and messaging, and exhibiting superior organizational, strategic thinking and relationship building skills that drives toward the successful execution of an integrated executive communications plan.
Responsibilities Serves as the Communications Business Partner and communications advisor to the Chief Strategy & Business Development Officer including developing strategic communications, employee communications, media relations and thought leadership opportunities.
Provides tactical communications support to the Chief Executive Officer including developing internal and external communications strategies materials, media relations support, speech and script writing, managing the CEO's LinkedIn channel, and management of the CEO's communications calendar.
Develops and maintains enterprise key messages, aligned with CSL's 2030 Strategy and Purpose, to incorporate into CEO and Executive presentations, remarks, thought leadership and other communications channels for both internal and external audiences.
Manages media relations for senior leaders and reporter relationships.
Develops regular compelling executive thought leadership content for CSL's owned channels.
Coordinates cross-functional external and internal communications opportunities for CSL's Global Leadership Group, inclusive of the CEO and Chief Strategy & Business Development Officer.
Contributes to the management of monthly communications to CSL's senior leadership team.
Develops communications in the tone and style of CSL Brand Positioning and executive leadership.
Develops briefers for executives in advance of internal and external events.
Qualifications & Competencies Bachelor's degree in a related field of business such as journalism, marketing or communications required Master's degree in communications is preferred 12
years' experience in a communications function with a focus on Executive Communications, preferably within healthcare.
Experience developing strategic communications programs and engaging with senior leaders.
Expert and proven ability in media relations and the development and execution of thought leadership opportunities.
Proven ability to communicate with and influence stakeholders at all levels, and to provide counsel to senior management.
Understanding of the complexities of working within a global organization and its impact on deliverables (e.
g.
, global processes, languages, time zones, cultural differences, etc.
).
